q and also a :: Cloak

NYC industrial shoegazers Cloak sent us these answers to our questions in this next installment of q and also a.

q: What is the last song you (really) heard?

a: Pere Ubu “Final Solution”. We’ve been fooling around with it in practice lately, so I’ve really dug in to it. It is a classic for a reason. Its like post rock took a time machine back to 1975 and picked up all the 13-year-old angst on the way. It’s really magic.

q: What is the first album you remember purchasing?

a: Metallica Master of Puppets. On CD. Came in one of those big boxes that the record labels had to package CDs in so record stores could fit them on their shelves made for vinyl.

(as mentioned previously here)

q: Is there an album you wished you knew about when you were younger?

a: Good question, I think about this a lot. Probably Neu!’s first record. When I heard Hallogallo for the first time it was like “WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN ALL MY LIFE”. It immediately becomes clear what Bowie,Eno, and all the post punk legends were listening to when they made their best records.

q: What is the last album that you purchased?

a: Nine Inch Nails “Not The Actual Events”. I bought the digital version, which came with a “Physical Component” that arrived in the mail about 6 months later. It was lots of postcard sized artwork that destroys itself as you handle it. Also made a mess. ultra Reznorian.

q: What is your favorite memory of experiencing music in a live setting?

a: Seeing Television at the Rough Trade space. Best show I’ve ever been to, no contest.

q: What should we know about We Will All Be Equal Soon?

a: We spent way way too much time on it, but I am really proud of it? If you come to a show, there will be a “Physical Component” available.
